NGO's use Hydraform Technology

by Ryno Saayman

BIRD Initiative; a training advisory and community mobilization NGO, recently conducted an exercise with the Ministry of housing in training and transferring skills in technical construction to 20 rural youth in Magare, Rongai District in Kenya.
BIRD initiative’s main objective is to promote rural development by utilizing modern business ideas and consultancy services. BIRD Initiative currently has multiple programs running across rural districts, one of which is the Hydraform program.
The 20 young men and woman from the district will receive extensive training on Hydraform Technology. The Hydraform Machines are well suited to the program as the mobility of Hydraform machines means that it can be transported with ease to the most rural parts of Kenya. Low cement usage is also ideal for building in poor areas as it cuts down cost considerably. The technology allows block production using locally dug soil, mixed with low amounts of cement.
Hydraform is reaching all corners of Africa and making a difference to the lives of those who need it most. Hydraform Machines require unskilled labour, which creates valuable job opportunities to unschooled individuals in rural areas. With the assistance of NGO’s like the Bird initiative, rural villages will be trained to build houses and necessary facilities like clinics and schools which will improve living standard considerably.
By making use of Hydraform Technology, BIRD Initiative has taken the first steps in the process of creating a better future for many individuals and families by creating jobs and providing quality shelter.
