Q.How many 140mm Hydraform blocks are there in one square meter of wall?

A.

There are approximately 37  Hydraform 140mm blocks in a square meter of wall.

Q.Do you need to plaster the inside for a smooth finish or do the blocks have a fine enough finish ready for painting.

A.

Hydraform blocks can be plastered or you can apply paint directly to the dry Hydraform block wall.

Q.Is building with Hydraform blocks faster than building with conventional brick and mortar.

A.

Building with Hydraform blocks can be extremely fast.  Typically a good Hydraform block layer with two block fetchers can place up to 500 blocks in a day.  That would be the equivalent of 1500 standard stock bricks in a day.

Q.In how many countries are Hydraform machines being used?

A.

Hydraform machines are being used in over 50 countries worldwide.

Q.Can Hydraform blocks be used in wet climates?

A.

Yes. Hydraform blocks with a strength of 7MPa can even be used underground, in permanently wet conditions.

Q.What does ‘Hydraform’ mean?

A.

The word ‘Hydraform’ refers to the ‘hydraulic forming’ of bricks. Hydraform machines use hydraulic high pressure to press the soil and cement mixture into a high-quality strong block.

Q.Do blocks have to be covered during curing, and with what?

A.

It is very important to cover the blocks with plastic when curing them. Hydraform recommends a black plastic that is 250 micron thick.

Q.What makes our building system different?

A.

The Hydraform building system is different because it uses two distinct, well-tested technologies. The first technology is the soil cement technology where the blocks are compressed from a mixture of soil and cement. The second technology is the dry stacked interlock technology where the blocks have an interlocking shape and are dry stacked into the wall.

Q.What are Hydraform blocks composed of?

A.

Hydraform blocks are composed of soil and 5-10% cement.

Q.How long does it take for a block to cure?

A.

Hydraform recommends that blocks are cured under plastic sheeting for a minimum of 7 days. The blocks should be wet thoroughly twice a day during this 7-day curing period.
